TOMS College of Engineering, Mattakara bagged the first KTU inter- collegiate mens Volleyball Tournament. They defeated  Amaljyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirappally (20-25, 25- 22, 25 -18, 20-25, 18-16) on 27th November 2016 in a thrilling encounter that spanned two hours.  The championship was conducted under the auspicious of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University  (KTU) in a picturesque environment at Mattakara. The third place was bagged by SCMS, Cochin.
The championship spanned a period of more than 45 days, with six zonal matches in various parts of the state. The well organised Volleyball Tournament is another golden feather in the University’s hat.

  The University team was selected on the basis of their performance in the tournament. Five outstanding players of Toms College walked into the University team.

  The women’s Volleyball finals was won by Rajagiri, the first runner-up was FISAT and the second runner-up was Toms college. Two girls from Toms College were also selected to the University team.

The ex-chief minister of Kerala Sri. Oommen  also attended the tournament.
