Civil Engineering students Site VisitFebruary 28, 2020The Civil Engineering Department of TOMS College, Mattakara has organized a site visit for its civil students for River view road construction project at Pala.
The purpose of the site visit was to familiarize students with eco-friendly and sustainable construction strategies. The students were given valuable ideas by Mr Roopesh R.(AE, PWD) who accompanied the students throughout the trip. The trip provided the student's exposure to a real working environment.
The Pala River View road or the Cantilever Walkway is a state government-funded project which is in its second stage of construction. The government has allocated around 47 Cr funding in the year of 2013 for this project. This ongoing large scale construction project started in 2016 is estimated to be completed in 24 months. The design concept consists of a 900 m integral bridge as well as an iconic walkway along the banks of the Meenachil River. This upcoming road is expected to be an effective solution for reducing traffic congestion in the Ettumanoor-Poonjar state highway.
The students are indebted to Mr Roopesh who spent his valuable time for the benefit of his juniors at TOMS Engineering College. He introduced to the students, the application of various engineering concepts in the ongoing project. They also got a clear idea of the details of foundation reinforcement and the quality standards, maintained in the construction site. This was indeed a fruitful educational trip that gave the students aware about the application of the latest technologies.
