Ms. Anju Maria Tom is the Head of the Department of Commerce at Toms Arts and Science College, Mattakkara, affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. She is a dedicated academician with a strong foundation in commerce, finance, accounting, taxation, and management. She is committed to delivering quality higher education through innovative, student-centred teaching practices that promote academic excellence and professional development.

She holds a Master of Commerce (M.Com) in Finance from St. Berchmans (SB) College, Changanassery, and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) in Computer Applications, graduating with outstanding academic performance. To further strengthen her professional expertise, she has completed a Higher Diploma in Cooperation awarded by the Government of Kerala and a Diploma in Sales Tax Practice.

Ms. Anju possesses strong technical proficiency in C, C++, HTML, Microsoft Office, and Tally, enabling her to effectively integrate information technology with commerce education. She believes in combining theoretical concepts with practical applications to prepare students for the evolving business and corporate environment.

Her teaching portfolio includes a wide range of undergraduate commerce and management subjects, including Financial Management, Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Public Finance, Human Resource Management, Taxation, Marketing Management, Entrepreneurship, and other core commerce disciplines. She adopts outcome-based education, experiential learning, case-based discussions, and technology-enabled pedagogy to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

As the Head of the Department, Ms. Anju provides academic leadership in curriculum planning, departmental administration, mentoring, examination coordination, and quality assurance initiatives. She actively contributes to institutional development by organizing seminars, workshops, faculty development programmes, student enrichment activities, and extension programmes, while fostering an academic environment that promotes ethical values, professional competence, innovation, and lifelong learning.

Her academic interests include Finance, Accounting, Taxation, Public Finance, Human Resource Management, Financial Planning, Digital Commerce, and Outcome-Based Education. She continually updates her knowledge through faculty development programmes, seminars, workshops, conferences, and other professional development initiatives to ensure that her teaching remains aligned with contemporary academic standards and industry requirements.
