Jobin John is the Head of the Department (HOD) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at TOMS College of Engineering and Polytechnic, Kottayam, Kerala, India. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (AMAeSI.) in Aeronautical Engineering from Visveswaraya Institute of Engineering and Technology (VIET) and a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Aerospace Engineering from Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (MRCET). With over 10 years of teaching experience, he has established himself as a dedicated academician, researcher, and mentor committed to excellence in aerospace education, research, and innovation.
His academic and research interests include Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Aerodynamics, Aircraft Structures, Aircraft Propulsion, Aerospace Engineering, Flight Mechanics, Avionics, Aircraft Design, and Wind Tunnel Testing. He is particularly interested in aerodynamic optimization, advanced computational analysis, and the development of innovative technologies that enhance aircraft performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
His postgraduate research project, titled “Comparative Aerodynamic Analysis of a Morphed Wing with Optimised Camber and Span”, focused on advanced aerodynamic optimization using computational techniques to investigate performance improvements through wing morphing technology. The study contributes to the advancement of adaptive aircraft structures aimed at improving lift-to-drag ratio, fuel efficiency, and overall flight performance.
Jobin John has published several research articles in reputed journals in the field of aerospace engineering. His notable publications include Computational Study of Shark-Skin Riblets for Drag Reduction, CFD-Based Optimization of Winglet Shape for Induced Drag Reduction, and Design and Aerodynamic Analysis of Circulation Control Wing Using Coanda Effect for Lift Enhancement. These publications demonstrate his expertise in computational aerodynamics and innovative aerodynamic design methodologies.
Throughout his academic career, he has served at several prestigious engineering institutions, including Visveswaraya Institute of Engineering and Technology (VIET), ILM College of Engineering and Technology, and TOMS College of Engineering and Polytechnic. His decade-long teaching experience has enabled him to mentor undergraduate engineering students, supervise academic projects, and contribute significantly to curriculum development, laboratory establishment, and outcome-based engineering education.
As an educator, he teaches undergraduate courses including Aircraft Structures, Aircraft Propulsion, Aerodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, and Avionics.
