5 Common Misconceptions about Civil Engineering January 29, 2021 Civil Engineering discipline is the branch of engineering that deals with the design and construction of structures like roads, bridges, dams, airports, railways, etc.

Opportunities in Civil Engineering

Opportunities abound in various branches of Civil Engineering, covering so many civil engineering jobs in the private and public sectors. There is no retirement for a skilled and experienced professional. Opportunities are vast and diverse. In Government, a lot of options are there. If you want a government job to settle, you can go for Civil Engineering. So go as per your interest. Nothing is easy or difficult. If you put in your hard work, difficult things become easy. If you don't work, the most comfortable items become difficult

Study of Civil engineering

Civil engineering course is a vast discipline. But once you begin to get the idea and study with all your interest, it'll be the simplest thing, so you can see and feel the things happening around you. You can see how the road gets constructed, and you can see the tall skyscrapers rising day after day; you can feel the phenomenon of earthquakes. It all depends on how much practice we have studied the subjectcivil engineering and architecture

For those who pursue their passion, this is the most fantastic branch. You have to imagine the entire structure and predict its nature or problems it will face in the future by sitting on your bench and doing some analytical methods, and after that, execute your actions on site. They take it as a challenge and build the most beautiful design, which astonishes the world. They know Structural analysis, fluid mechanics, and Geotech's value because they love to play with this.

Misconceptions and myths

  • Domain of males

Firstly, as most of us believe, civil engineering is not a career populated mainly by men. Many female students opt for this as their career, and many have become some of the most successful civil engineers. Also, one needs not have to attend to lots of fieldwork, as civil engineering likewise has an in-depth research aspect. In short, Civil Engineering is not a job that requires a lot of travel.

  • Mathematic skills

Mathematical skills are not necessary to excel in Civil engineering course. Most degree programs limit math requirements. Problem-solving is the primary skill of civil engineering.

  • Civil engineers draw blueprints

Manual Drawing of blueprints takes too much time and stalls engineering projects. Nowadays, engineers use specialized software for creating unique and easy-to-follow blueprints. Civil engineers generate blueprints according to accurate measurements, topography, and connecting roadways and utilities. Most civil engineers use computer programs to design projects.

  • Civil engineers are based in large cities

In a rapidly growing economic environment, opportunities are limitless in rural areas, as well as cities. Civil engineers help to build structures in every different type of environment. They can also work on international projects.

  • Civil Engineering is exclusively about building and road

Another common misconception is that civil engineering is exclusively about building and road planning; a considerable facet of the profession deals with environmental issues, particularly the current sustainability or CSR call.
