    Hillary Raju M

    Head of the Department

Hillary Raju M is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Toms College of Engineering and Polytechnic, Kottayam, Kerala, India. She holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering and an M.Tech in Structural and Construction Management. Her academic and research interests include Structural Engineering, Reinforced Concrete (RC) Structures, FRP Strengthening Techniques, Bridge Engineering, Construction Management, and the Seismic Performance of Buildings. She is committed to promoting excellence in engineering education through quality teaching, research, and practical learning.

Her research primarily focuses on the behaviour and strengthening of reinforced concrete structures using advanced composite materials, particularly Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) systems. Her work aims to improve the strength, durability, and service life of structural elements while promoting sustainable and innovative engineering solutions for modern infrastructure.

Hillary Raju has undertaken several academic research projects, including the Design and Estimation of Bridges during her undergraduate studies, the Analysis of Regular and Irregular Buildings with Different Shear Wall Positions as her M.Tech mini project, and her master’s thesis titled “Study of CFRP Strengthened Reinforced Concrete (RC) Deep Beams with Web Openings.” These projects demonstrate her expertise in structural analysis, bridge engineering, and the rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures.

She has published a research review paper titled “A Review on Behavior of Continuous RC Beams Having Web Openings Strengthened with FRP” in the International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology (IRJET), Volume 09, Issue 04, April 2022. Her publication reflects her interest in advanced structural strengthening techniques and sustainable rehabilitation methods.

In addition to her research, Hillary Raju has gained valuable industry exposure through internships involving the construction of a building at TB Road, Kottayam, bridge construction under the Public Works Department (PWD), Malappuram, and the construction of a beam bridge at Cherai. These experiences have strengthened her practical understanding of construction practices and bridge engineering.

As an Assistant Professor, she is actively engaged in teaching undergraduate and diploma Civil Engineering courses, mentoring students, and guiding academic projects. Her areas of expertise include Structural Engineering, Reinforced Concrete Design, Steel Structures, Construction Management, Surveying, Building Drawing, and Bridge Engineering. She is dedicated to delivering quality technical education while encouraging practical, industry-oriented learning among students.

She has also successfully completed a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Advancements in Engineering Materials for Sustainability,” demonstrating her commitment to continuous professional development. Through her teaching, research, and technical expertise, Hillary Raju continues to contribute to engineering education and the advancement of structural engineering through academic excellence, innovative research, and industry-oriented learning.
